MLA Board of Directors Candidate: Ellen M. Aaronson

Ellen M. Aaronson, AHIP, is one of four candidates selected by the MLA Nominating Committee to run MLA’s Board of Directors for the 2010/11 association year. Since 2004, Ellen has been the sole librarian at West Hills Hospital & Medical Center in West Hills, California. She is also Director of Research Services at Library Associates Companies in Los Angeles, California.
Ellen has been an MLA member since 1978, and her 2009 national MLA activites include being an official blogger. She is a current member of the Hospital Libraries Section. Recent chapter activities include membership in the Medical Library Group of Southern California and Arizona (MLGSCA), of which Ellen was a president in 2006-2007, and serving as co-chair for the MLGSCA/Northern California and Nevada Medical Library Group (NCNMLG) 2010 Joint Meeting. Her Distinguished Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) is pending; she has been a Senior Member of AHIP since 1999. See MLA’s Candidate Information page for more information related to professional positions, activities, honors, education and publications.
In response to the Nominating Committee’s question, “If elected, what initiatives would you like to see MLA undertake during your term?â€Â Ellen stated, “Hospital libraries are my passion! Although I am involved with Library Associates Companies, my primary role since 1990 has been as a solo librarian at West Hills Hospital & Medical Center in West Hills, California.

Ellen – I apologize for initially stating your primary role as Director of Research Services at Library Associates Companies. The blog has been corrected to reflect your primary role as the West Hills Hospital & Medical Center librarian.
