MLA Nominating Committee Candidate: Janis F. Brown

Janis F. Brown, AHIP, is one of 18 candidates selected by the MLA Nominating Committee to be on MLA’s Nominating Committee for the 2010/11 association year. Nine of the 18 candidates will be selected to serve on the committee. Janis is currently the Associate Director of Systems and Information Technology at University of Southern California’s Norris Medical Library.
Janis’ most recent national activities include being an MLA member from 1975-present; Section Council: representative 2009; American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA): liaison 2008-present; continuing education co-developer and co-instructor of in-person and online courses 2004-present; and Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP): mentor 2004-2009. Recent section activities include Medical Informatics Section (MIS): member 1996-present; MIS past-chair 2008-2009; Travel Grants Task Force: chair 2008-2009; Nominating Committee: chair 2008-2009; and Educational Media and Technologies Section: member 1983-present. Janis has been a member of the Medical Library Group of Southern California and Arizona (MLGSCA) from 1980-present. See MLA’s Nominating Committee Candidate Information page for more information related to activities.
